About the Dee Tour

The Dee Tour is entwined with the history of the River Legacy itself, which you can read more about just here. To give you a brief idea, the Dee Tour has been the subject of much discussion over the years. Its organisation has changed over time, and it has been hit with all sorts of issues including high water levels, foot and mouth disease and the eventual cancellation of the entire event.

For several years there was no Dee Tour, but February 2007 saw the revival of a much-loved event. This was following discussions between the River Legacy and the community in Llangollen who asked us to organise a tour again. The River Legacy met with fishermen and riparian owners, and worked out several dates where large events (such as a Dee Tour) could run. It should be noted that there is no condition in place with regards to paddling the Dee at other times, there is quite simply an agreement that large events will be welcomed on particular dates. The event was back in full swing in November 2007 and looks set to continue on a bi-annual basis in the foreseeable future.
