Clive was one of our original Trustees (and still is!) and is one of the loveliest characters I know. Although other commitments saw him around a bit less for a while, he's gradually getting involved again and was even seen in a boat on the water during the 2006 Teifi Tour, hooray!
Clive started paddling around the 1990 mark, when his son dragged him off to scout camp to look after people on the water - kinda tricky if you've not been in a boat before... Before he knew it, he was a Senior Instructor and became founder chairman of the Wirral Guide and Scout Canoe Association which is still alive and well, although on a reduced scale in Wallasey.
During one of the training sessions he was running, he had cause to tell a bearded man off because he was not wearing a helmet on the massive white water of Chester Weir. That man turned out to be Steve Wales and they have been good mates ever since.
Not satisfied with the adrenaline rush of paddling, he can often be seen getting his kicks elsewhere as well - as a regular para-glider...
